The Body Wrap - A Relaxing Experience To Reduce Your Cellulite Problem

When you hear the phrase "body wrap", do you start to visualize yourself being trussed up like a mummy? Most of us have heard of body wrapping, but often don't have any idea exactly what it is or how it works. In fact, although you might think that being wrapped up sounds a little bit scary, it can be a rather relaxing experience, as well as helping get rid of cellulite. So let's take a look at what's really involved in a body wrap, so that you can decide for yourself if you'd like to try body wrapping to reduce your cellulite.

The first step is to remove all your clothes, although you can generally leave on your undergarments. If you're only planning to have one part of your body wrapped, then you may leave other clothing on as well. The practitioner will begin by exfoliating the skin, with a sea salt scrub a popular choice. Then your body will be lathered with a cream mask made from natural substances. Algae, mud and seaweed are the most popular choices for the cream. Hydrating lotions are often mixed in with the cream.

Once your body is covered in the nourishing cream, warm cloths or seaweed is wrapped around you. These stay on for between 20 and 45 minutes, and feel wonderful. Once you are unwrapped again, all the cream is rinsed off. Then another hydrating body cream or lotion is applied to finish the process. You need to allow between an hour and an hour and a half for the whole procedure.

Detoxing your body is one of the main purposes of a body wrap. Toxins are removed from the body by the metabolic stimulation that the mixture of seaweed and algae promotes. The lotions can also do a great job of hydrating your body. A body wrap encourages your body's circulation, which is how it helps to minimize the appearance of cellulite. Hydration of the skin also helps this process. Sometimes you will see immediate results, other times it may take a couple of body wrap sessions before results are visible. A body wrap doesn't provide a long time solution, however. It's only a temporary fix for cellulite. Often people use other cellulite treatments too, coupled with a weekly body wrap.

It's important that you feel safe and comfortable wherever you choose to go for your body wrap. It's a rather personal procedure, so comfort is essential. Many establishments also offer a massage, if you would like to have one. If you sometimes suffer from claustrophobia, you may a body wrap distressing, and another type of treatment may be preferable. It's likely that you'll be left on your own while the wrap is in place, so make sure you are completely comfortable before the practitioner leaves you.

A body wrap can be effective in dealing with cellulite, as well as being a soothing experience. It also helps remove toxins and can improve the appearance of your skin. Sometimes a body wrap can leave you feeling dehydrated, so make sure you hydrate yourself well afterwards by drinking lots of water.

Sixties: The Decade of Rebellion

It is safe to say that in the sixties everything changed: society, fashion, music, art, media, everything was impacted. It was a time when everyone truly believed they could make a difference, when it seemed as if the world had limitless possibilities and a few people trying really hard, willing to sacrifice everything, could change the direction of everything.

And it proved the power of believing in yourself. Ordinary people did change things, extraordinary things like the attitude of society at large, like the way people viewed war and music and art. Student protests, often led by folk musicians, helped lead to the demise of the Vietnamese War, helped make social consciousness and equality for all a living fact, helped people really achieve the freedom that America and the West have always striven for. It was a remarkable time, and no wonder that many people look back to it as a time of dreams and passion.

Social Activism, Celebrities, and Music


Rock music became its own genre in the mid-1950s. Less than ten years later, the Beatles burst onto the music scene, the vanguard of a revolution in music. Parents hated them, sometimes even worse than they hated Elvis. But the kids loved them, and would buy anything with a picture of John, Paul, Ringo, or George. Their innovations paved the way for later artists, both British and American: the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, The Doors, The Mamas and the Papas � dozens of legendary bands have the Beatles to thank.


By the middle of the decade, the Beatles were writing songs about social issues, like war and loneliness. And other bands followed suit. There was a lot to write about; in the United States, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was leading American Blacks to unheard-of levels of social equality, and soon the British would put special military troops in Northern Ireland to quell the unrest there, leading to nearly-open guerilla warfare with the IRA. Women all over the world were following a movement to equal rights. And anti-war activists like Jane Fonda were making a name for themselves, both famous and infamous.

Food: Trends Good And Bad

Though founded much longer ago, McDonalds and other fast food restaurants grew into a major power in the food industry during the 60s, probably driven by the high energy of the time coupled with an increasing dependence on automobiles as a means of transportation. At the same time the stuff that�s bad for you became popular, other people began to realize that you really are what you eat. Because of new age conservationist movements, those people began to eat healthier: whole grains, organic foods they grew themselves, and semi-vegetarianism, vegetarianism, and vegan lifestyles.

War: What Is It Good For?

You can�t talk about the sixties, the decade of peace, without talking about war. Particularly, you have to look at the Vietnamese war. The US entered the country in Southeast Asia in the early 1960s at the request of the French � who subsequently abandoned the war. And America�s presence in Vietnam grew, gradually forcing a draft of the very young men who were just discovering the dizzying freedom the sixties ushered in. The result? An impressive increase in the numbers of young people going to college, and an equally impressive increase in the number of young men moving to Canada.

But why was this war so different from Korea, only about ten years earlier? The simple answer: television. Reporters with cameras covered the bloodiest parts of the war, capturing the pain on both sides in film. And those films made their way to broadcast television, which for the first time could be found in half or more American homes. It was difficult to watch the images of war without being moved, and it was a real shock to teenagers and young adults who had never known the touch of violence before.

But there was another kind of war going on, a social war. Blacks in America were discovering their power, partly spurred by the thought of the draft and partly by the energy of the decade carrying them forward. Women throughout the world were discovering not only their political power, but the social freedom brought about by a little pill � the birth control pill. For better or worse, relations between the sexes would never be the same.

Sixties Fun, Games, and Fashion

Toys were undergoing change, too. Physical games, like Frisbees and Twister, became very popular indeed. Boys began collecting Matchbox cars, the latest rage; and the self-image of little girls everywhere was changed as Barbie dolls, Sindy dolls, and other anatomically correct dolls that weren�t baby dolls entered their pink frilly rooms.

Older boys were finding they had much more to look at than ever before. Girls� skirts moved from the near-ankle-length full skirts of the fifties to the short � shorter � shortest skirts of the sixties. Short skirts and midriff-revealing hipster jeans also made it important that as little cellulite as possible showed � girls could no longer wear industrial-strength girdles. The most effective way of getting rid of cellulite? Be as thin as possible. The other problem with changing clothes was that if you used garters (or suspenders, if you�re in Britain) they showed under the short tight skirts. The answer? Pantyhose, an invention of the devil.

Inventions and Innovations

Computers also moved from being a scientific curiosity to a genuine industrial innovation; punch cards and tape were the programming tools of the time � until the integrated circuit, the precursor to today�s microchips. This innovation led to the development of the hand-held pocket calculator by Texas Instruments, though calculators did not come into general use until the early seventies. But the world didn�t understand how much science and technology was really going to change their lives � until Neil Armstrong spoke to the world from the surface of the Moon in 1969. It was a fitting end to a remarkable decade.

Breast Enhancing Pills - They Go Back Further than You May Think

Women looking to achieve actual cup size gains do have options other than surgical breast augmentation. The problem is, not all of these nonsurgical options work on every woman. This article gets into the research and real results that have been attained by women using breast enhancing pills.

If you find yourself reading this article, you are probably an individual that has thought about breast augmentation, or have found yourself thinking how nice it would be to have fuller and more attractive breasts. It used to be that the only way to fuller breasts was surgical breast augmentation, but this is not the case any more.

  • Vaginal yeast infections. When faced with a vaginal yeast infection that's about to drive you mad with burning and itching, it's quite understandable that you reach for an OTC can of "pharmaceutical vaginal pesticide." But, please don't do that to your wonderful body. The short-term relief you get is not worth the long-term side effects and imbalances that will result. Further, if you use a conventional OTC treatment for vaginal yeast and you don't actually have a yeast infection, you might be helping to create a drug-resistant strain of yeast in your vagina. Instead, try out one or more of these homeopathic remedies that help the body restore and maintain healthy vaginal flora -- without the nasty side effects: Pulsatilla, Sepia, or Candida Albicans. (Yes, Candida Albicans is a type of yeast that grows in the vagina. But, based on the homeopathic principal that "like cures like," a highly dilute amount of the offending substance can often result in a cure.)

  • Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) and menstrual cramps. If you suffer from chronic PMS or consistently debilitating menstrual cramps, I encourage you to work with a homeopathic practitioner who will prescribe your constitutional remedy. To find this remedy, the homeopath will take into account all of your symptoms--mental and emotional as well as physical. However, if you experience symptoms of PMS or painful cramps only on occasion, try one or more of the following remedies to gain relief: Lycopodium, Pulsatilla, Sepia, or Thuja.

  • Painful urination and bladder infections. Most women will suffer at one time or another from acute urinary pain. According to Jonas and Jacobs in "Healing With Homeopathy," urinary tract infections are usually self-limiting, meaning the infection will subside without medical intervention in most cases. The authors suggest that you try drinking at least one 8-ounce glass of water or cranberry juice every hour at the onset of the infection. If that doesn't resolve the problem within a few hours, then I encourage you to try one of these homeopathic remedies proven to stimulate bladder health: Berberis Vulgaris, Cantharis, or Hepar Sulphuris.

  • Menopause. According to a Journal of the American Medical Association report, Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) greatly increases a patient's risk of breast cancer. While this treatment does indeed ease hot flashes and other acute symptoms of menopause, there are other treatments that are far less risky. Homeopathy offers a range of remedies that will relieve symptoms of menopause--including hot flashes, vaginal dryness, night sweats, and mood swings--with absolutely no negative side effects or risks of cancer. Some of the remedies my clients (and my aunt!) have used with great (and almost immediate) success include: Sanguinaria, Bryonia, and Ignatia.

The Benefits of Topical Application

While many homeopathic remedies are taken orally in the form of tiny pills, it is my personal belief that topical application is much more effective. Thus, I have spent many years experimenting with botanical bases in which to suspend homeopathic remedies. By applying the remedy directly to the source of suffering, the remedy is able to enter the tissue and work immediately at a cellular level. For instance, when working with a woman who experienced painful menstrual cramps, I prepared a topical mixture that she applied directly to her abdomen. Within minutes, her cramps subsided. Need a Helping Hand? Women's Health Supplements Can Help

You are what you eat...

It�s something we�ve heard all our lives, and it�s true. Our health is the end result of the food we eat, the nutrients we take in and how our bodies absorb them.

In order to stay healthy you need to implement some basic dietary rules:

� Maximise your nutrient intake from fresh food (particularly green leafy vegetables, meat, fish and eggs)

� Minimise your loss of nutrients (through too much caffeine and carbonated, fizzy or soft drinks for example)

� Reduce or eliminate the things that are definitely bad for us � fried food and margarine, sugar and refined flour, burned animal fat, cigarettes.

� Perform a moderate amount of exercise � for example about 20 minutes per day to reduce your risk of diseases affecting women including osteoporosis, arthritis and heart disease.

In terms of general health, most scientists now agree that a multi-vitamin (and mineral) supplement is useful for the prevention of chronic disease - this is why women�s health supplements are so important. Recently, even the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) published an article linking the inadequate intake of vitamins to chronic diseases.

Healthy diet - The important thing to realise is that if you don�t start by following the simple dietary advice above, then you�ll be more prone to disease and illness.

The following is a summary of the women�s health supplements which can help with different women�s health challenges.

Breast cancer� womens health supplements � particularly antioxidants such as selenium, vitamin C, vitamin E, folic acid and a recently discovered plant chemical found in tomatoes called Lycopene � may reduce the risk of breast cancer.

Eat plenty of green leafy vegetables � these contain natural phytonutrients that are linked to a lower incidence of cancer. Alcohol, smoking, bad fats (found in fried food and margarine and oils when they�re heated), hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and lack of exercise are considered risk factors.

Cancer � same rules as above however there are some additional risk factors associated with other forms of cancer. Womens health supplements should include a full spectrum of 90 essential nutrients - including minerals in a highly absorbable form, amino acids, essential fatty acids and vitamins.
The antioxidant selenium along with antioxidant vitamins A, C and E have demonstrated anti-cancer properties.

Cellulite � cellulite develops when the connective tissues between the fat cell chambers and between the chambers and the skin become thin and weakened and the elastic fibres that give the connective tissue strength are also weakened. Weight gain is one reason for cellulite, but it happens to very slim women too. Reducing the appearance of cellulite is all about improving the circulation of blood to the affected areas, reducing the size of the fat cells and improving the strength of the connective tissue.
Exercise, plenty of water, detoxification (you can try doing a mineral wrap at home � you need wide elastic bandages soaked in warm water with plant colloidal mineral solution, covered by a layer of plastic to help you sweat out the toxins) and womens health supplements such as a good mineral, vitamin and essential fatty acid supplement will assist.

PMS � Premenstrual syndrome - some very significant studies have proven that supplementing with calcium can reduce the symptoms of PMS. Magnesium has also shown to be lacking or very low in women with PMS � a good source of this is chocolate � which may explain the chocolate cravings we sometimes have! (There are other ways to get magnesium, not just by eating chocolate!).

Women�s health supplements for PMS should include these minerals along with Vitamin E, herbs such as Black Cohosh and essential fatty acids.

Menopause � Menopause is a natural stage in a woman�s life where the ovaries gradually stop producing estrogen and progesterone. Losing Weight and Cellulite

There are many misconceptions about cellulite. Lots of people think that by losing weight that the cellulite will disappear, but unfortunately this is not true. Cellulite does not have much to do with weight gain. It actually is due to the food you eat.

If you eat fatty foods then your body will store the excess fat you are eating that is not used for energy. Your fat cells will begin to grow and attach themselves to the inner wall of your skin pulling your skin down in spots causing what we call cellulite. There are ways to get rid of the cellulite, but it takes time and commitment that many people choose not to do.

By doing exercises that burn fat, you can begin to get rid of that pesky cellulite. There is no reason that a person who is will to put in the effort can�t get rid of their cellulite. There are also cellulite creams that can make a vast improvement, but the creams also take time. Patience is key when you are looking to lose the cellulite.

Remember: stay away from fatty food and make sure that you keep your exercise up. You will than begin to lose it.
